Ashanti Douglas, popularly called Ashanti was was born in Glen Cove New York United States on the 13th of October, 1980. She is a singer, songwriter from America and actress. Ashanti was a teenager performer, songwriter and actress from the United States was signed by Murder Inc. Records to release a single in 2002. That same year, she was in The Fat Joe's What's Luv? Also, she was featured in Fat Joe's track"What's Luv!" as well as the Ja Rules' track Never In Time, both of which became huge hit songs. The songs of Ja Rule include Foolish (number 1) and What's Luv! It was the first female artist to have both of the top two spots on Billboard Hot 100 in America and with the number one spot held by Foolish. one and the other being What's Loving? We can celebrate this special day with us. Ashanti Shequoiya, more popularly called Ashanti, is a New Yorker who was born in Glen Cove, New York on the 13th of 13 October, 1980. Tina Douglas' mother was a dance instructor as was Ken-Kaide Douglas. The parent of Ashanti Douglas, was a singer. Kenashia Schia is Douglas's younger sister, is older. Douglas chose the name Ashanti after Ghana's Ashanti Empire, where women ruled and had power and influence. Douglas wanted Ashanti to be a part of this model. James her grandfather was a leader in civil rights who worked with Martin Luther King Jr. during the 1960s. Her mother discovered her talents after hearing her singing Mary J. Blige's Reminisce. Ashanti was on Spike Lee's Malcolm X (1992) and Ted Demme's Who's the Man? as an extra in her youth. In addition, she appeared in a few music videos, including 8-Off Ghettogirl, and K.R.S. Act One MC's The People You've Never Even Met. After having been courted for a long time by various record companies, including Bad Boy, Jive and others Ashanti still struggled as singer. Despite not receiving any big breaks, Ashanti continued playing around New York. Ashanti first appeared in the role of background vocalist in the music video of Big Pun on the song "How We Roll". She also appeared on the Fat Joe's song What's Luv? Ja Rule's always punctual as well as Fat Jojo's What's Luv? also featured her. The first single from Ashanti, Foolish and Foolish, the DeBarge song Stay with Me that was recorded in 1983 is sung. Ashanti released her self-titled debut album in 2002. It was released via Irv Goti's Murder Inc. label. The Declaration, Ashanti's fourth studio album, was released on June 3, 2008. Hey Baby After the Club was released on the 16th of October to radio and digital stores. She was Latasha In Army Wives and starred in the movie Christmas in the City.
